Bees, garden, woodworking, and testing hammocks are all summer activities. So what do we do in the winter? Glad you asked! Three main things:
1) Making hammocks – Malcolm builds up inventory in the winter so your summer enjoyment is ready when you are. See Hammocks & Cedar.
2) Writing – Kristine has several contracts (and is often looking for more, hint, hint) that involve research, writing, documentation, editing, and related activities. See Words.
3) House Painting – we’re both available to do painting, wall-papering and small fix-up jobs around your house or office. See Paint for before-and-after photos and comments from our customers.
And of course we spend lots of time planning and day-dreaming about the next growing season. For instance, for 2012, a large part of the front field will be planted in field peas, oats, and buckwheat – with the double purpose of building soil fertility at the same time as providing flowers for the bees. A wilder part of the field will be over-seeded with a new wild-flower mix. Over time, some species crowd out others so we renew the variety once in a while to avoid having a dominant variety that flowers only for a short part of the season – our aim is continuous bloom to keep the bees busy!
